| Microscopy Award | $20.00 cash prize awarded to a project for the best use of microscopy. |
| Originality Award | $20.00 cash prize awarded to the most original project and/or to the student who can best demonstrate ingenuity in research, thought, procedure and presentation in a project. |
| Presentation Award | $20.00 cash prize awarded to the most attractive, complete, and accurate display board at the fair. |
| Research Design Award | $20.00 cash prize awarded to the best comprehensive research project at the fair. |
| Scientific Journal Award | $20.00 cash prize awarded to the student with the most complete project journal. The project journal should include research notes, experimental notes, and raw data. |
| U.S. Metric Association | Awarded to the project that demonstrates correct and consistant use of The International System of Units (a.k.a. metric) in measuring and displaying data. |
Secondary Special Awards
| American Meteorological Society | Awarded to the best senior division project dealing with atmospheric and related oceanic and hydrologic sciences. |
| American Psychological Association | Awarded to the student whose project represents outstanding research in psychology in the Behavioral and Social Science Category. |
| ASM Materials Education Foundation Award | Awarded to the most outstanding senior division exhibit in materials science and engineering. The project will need to use materials-related concepts, demonstrate some aspect of the materials paradigm, be clear in presentation, and follow the scientific method. |
| Association for Women Geoscientists | Awarded to a senior division female student that best exemplifies high standards and scientific excellence in the geosciences. |
| Friends of the Great Salt Lake | A ranger guided airboat ride on the Great Salt Lake will be awarded to the best junior division project dealing with the Great Salt Lake or its tributaries. The award can also be given to the best project dealing with water quality issues. |
| Great Basin Air & Water Management Association | $50.00 cash prize awarded to the best project dealing with environmental management issues by enhancing knowledge and providing quality information on which to base important environmental decisions. |
| Herbert Hoover Presidential Library Association | Awarded to the most outstanding engineering project at the fair. Winning students will have a good grasp of engineering fundamentals and demonstrate competence in one or more engineering disciplines. |
| Intel Excellence in Computer Science | $200.00 awarded to the senior division 1st place winner in the computer science category. |
| Microscopy Award | $20.00 cash prize awarded to the best use of microscopy in a project. |
| MU Alpha Theta | Awarded to the individual or team demonstrating the most challenging, thorough, and creative investigation of a problem involving modern mathematics in the senior division. This project does not necessarily have to be entered into the Mathematics category. |
| National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association | NOAA's Taking the Pulse of the Planet Award will be awarded to a senior division project whose research emphasizes NOAA's mission: to understand and predict changes in Earth's environment and to conserve and manage coastal and marine resources to meet our Nation's economic, social, and environmental needs. |
| National Society of Professional Engineers | Award given to the most innovative engineering project. |
| Originality Award | $20.00 cash prize awarded to the most original project and/or to the student who can best demonstrate ingenuity in research, thought, procedure and presentation in a project. |
| Presentation Award | $20.00 cash prize awarded to the most attractive, complete,and accurate display board represented at the fair. |
| Research Design Award | $20.00 cash prize awarded to the best comprehensive research project at the fair. |
| Ricoh Sustainable Development Award | Awarded to an individual or team whose principals and technical innovations offer the greatest potential for increasing our ability to grow environmentally friendly and socially responsible businesses. Winners are entered into a drawing for a digital camera. |
| Scientific American Award | A one-year subscription to Scientific American is awarded to projects with evidence of an extensive research investigation. |
| Scientific Journal Award | $20.00 cash prize awarded to the student with the most complete project journal. The project journal should include research notes, experimental notes, and raw data. |
| Society for In-Vitro Biology | Awarded to the most outstanding 11th grade student exhibiting in the areas of plant or animal in-vitro biology or tissue culture. |
| Utah Council of Teachers of Mathematics Award | $50.00 cash prize awarded to the best senior division project investigating mathematics or with an excellent use of mathematics in their research. |
| U.S. Air Force Award | Awarded to the best projects in any category representing innovative ideas of interest to the U.S. Air Force. |
| U.S. Army Award | Awarded to the best projects in any senior division category representing innovative ideas of interest to the U.S. Army. |
| U.S. Department of Health & Human Services | Awarded to a senior division project that creatively illustrate and expand upon
any of the following statements from the Surgeon General:

| Utah Department of Natural Resources Award | $200.00 cash prize awarded to the best senior division project in the Earth or Environmental Science categories or to a project dealing with the protection of natural resources in Utah. |

| U.S. Navy/Marine Corps | Awarded to students whose projects demonstrate excellent scientific thought and process skills. Monetary awards available in the senior division |
| Utah Veterinary Medical Association Award | $100.00 cash prize plus a $50.00 savings bond awarded to projects that exemplify animal research and raise public awareness to veterinary medicine. |
| Water Environment Federation Stockholm Jr Water Prize | Awarded to the best project relating to or dealing with water treatment, management, protection or quality. Opportunity to advance to the National Water Environment Federation Competition. |
| Yale Science & Engineering Association | Awarded to an 11th grade student with the best project in the areas of Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, or Chemistry. |
Category Awards
Category Awards are given in each of the
competition categories in the elementary,
junior, and senior divisions. A cash award, certificate, and trophy will be given to
each winning project.
The awards will be presented to the first-, second-, and third-place winners in the junior and senior divisions, and to the top seventeen projects in each category of the elementary division.
Grand Awards
| Brigham Young University Dean's Awards | $75.00 awards for students in grades 9-12 presented by the BYU Deans from the College of Life Science, the College of Engineering & Technology, the College of Physical & Mathematical Sciences and the McKay School of Education. |
| Brigham Young University Tuition Scholarships | One-year, full tuition scholarships will be awarded to 12th grade students. In order to collect the scholarship, the winning students must be accepted to Brigham Young University. |
| College of Eastern Utah Tuition Waiver | A one-year tuition waiver will be awarded to a student in each grade level at the science fair. In order to use the tuition waiver, recipients will have to attempt and complete 15 credit hours per semester and maintain a 3.00 semester GPA. |
| Society for Science and the Public Middle School Program | The top projects in grades 5-8 are nominated to compete for an all expense paid trip to Washington D.C. as a finalist in the SSP Middle School Program. The top prize is a $20,000 college scholarship. Thirty students, nationwide, are selected as finalists. |
| Grand Champions | Top projects in grades 5-8 will be awarded $50.00 and a trophy. |
| Sweepstakes Winners - Intel ISEF Finalists | Six individual projects and three team projects in the senior division will be awarded $100.00 and an all expense paid trip to compete in the Intel International Science & Engineering Fair. |
| The Symantec Software Scholarship | $10,000 college scholarship good for any college or university in Utah. The scholarship will be awarded to a 9-12 grade student who has written or used software code to model or solve a problem. A substantial amount of the software code must be the applicant's own effort. |
| Utah Valley University Tuition Scholarships | Two full-year, full-tuition scholarships will be awarded to seniors. The scholarships are awarded by the Dean of the School of Science. Students must apply and be accepted to Utah Valley University in order to obtain the scholarship. |
| Young Scientist Award for Excellence in Nanotechnology | $1000 scholarship awarded to the best project dealing with the application or use of a functional submicron material. |
