March 23-26, 2009
The Central Utah Science and Engineering Fair (CUSEF) Committee would like to welcome you to our fair. CUSEF is a regional science competition presented by the Brigham Young University David O. McKay School of Education and the BYU-Public School Partnership. As a committee it is our goal to excite students about science by providing a venue where they can present and share the lessons they have learned in their classrooms combined with their own interests and discoveries.
The fair is open to 5-12 grade students in the following school districts:
Alpine
Jordan
Nebo
Provo
Wasatch
Students who attend charter or private schools within the boundaries of
these school districts and home-schooled students within the Wasatch Home
Educator's Network are also eligible to participate.
All students must attend two pre-qualifying fairs in order to advance on to compete at CUSEF. These fairs would include a school fair and a district science fair.
Projects are judged according to age group:
Elementary Division - Grades 5-6
Junior Division - Grades 7-8
Senior Division - Grades 9-12
Grand prize winners in the elementary and junior divisions will be nominated to compete in the
Society for Science & the Public Middle School Program.
Grand prize winners in the senior division will receive an all-expense paid trip
to Reno, Nevada to attend the 2009
Intel International Science & Engineering Fair (Intel ISEF), where they will
compete for over $3 million in scholarships and prizes.
CUSEF is currently being held each spring at
Brigham Young University's Conference Center in Provo, Utah.
